Salado VS. Gonzalez

Our next game was in Gonzalez. Gonzalez is about 2 hours from us. Justin and I were not really looking forward to driving that far but we both had the day off and Dodo and Richard were still here, so they kept Jolee and Jewell for us which was a huge help.
Justin and I left about 3pm and headed south. Once we got to Gonzalez, we had some time to spare so we ate at the Come and Take It Bar and Grill.
We enjoyed our dinner and time together and then it was off to the game.
This game was a little different. There was no track on their field, so Jaina was the only one allowed on the field. The cheerleaders and drill team had to perform in the stands which was a little different.
Jaina had to keep watching the football players to make sure they did not run into her.
She only got to perform the first two quarters as the band left directly after halftime.
They had UIL competition the next day, so they were outta there. Which left Jaina with no music to perform to, so for the rest of the game she sat with me and Justin in the stands.
She also wore her uniform from last year because it was supposed to rain and I did not want her current costume getting wet. I was afraid the red fabric would bleed into the red. She looked cute in her old costume.
She performed out on the field after halftime.
Hehe, I like this picture, I caught her jump in midair
We ended up beating Gonzalez 14-0 so that means Salado is headed to the playoffs!
While we were at the game Dorothy and Richard took the girls to Chuck E Cheese. Jewell has been begging to go to Chuck E Cheese and play games, so it was perfect timing.
Jolee said she was a little embarrassed but played games anyways.
Grandma said the girls had a blast!

A Spooky Halloween Night

We had a great time Halloween this year. Lots of fun.
This year we had Dylan Jaina's boyfriend come over and trick or treat with us. Jolee dressed as a dead bride, Jewell was Rusty, Dylan looked like an Egyptian of some sort, haha and Jaina went as Jaina.
Since Halloween landed on a Thursday this year, I knew we were going to head out early so I made a fun little Halloween dinner for us. I made meatloaf feet, LOL
And the rolls were fingers with nails. Haha, Dylon came to eat with us for the first time and probably thinks were all crazy at our house
Grandma sat on the pour ready to pass out candy
Jolee decided to go as a dead bride like last year.
Off they went. They started out down the street. They walked the whole street by themselves. Once they got to the top of the other side Dorothy and I went and picked them up.
They had a good time
Once they walked the street Jewell was done, like done, done. She did not want to go to any more houses. She got a whole bucket full. Jaina and Dylan were done too and just wanted to hang out at the house.
But Jolee on the other hand wanted to do as much as she could. So, Dorothy and I took her to La Paloma which is a neighborhood closer to town and then we went to the new neighborhood close to our old street. We took turns walking with Jolee to the houses and I would drive behind them. We had a great time.
Jolee was having a blast. One guy gave her his entire bowl of candy and said here, take the whole thing, haha Jolee was so excited she thought she hit the jackpot. Then a guy dressed up in a mask came up to Dorothy and scared the dog out of her, we laughed and laughed. We had a good time.
Once we got home, we divided out all the candy and ended up with 6-gallon size sacks full of candy! We had a fun and spooky night.

Splat the Cat

Halloween day Jewell's school did not have dress up in Halloween costumes but instead had a dress up as your favorite book character. Since Jewell was going to be a cat for Halloween it was only fitting to make her into a cat from a book. No masks were allowed at school, so I had to modify her costume for school. So, Jewell went as Splat the Cat!
They did allow face paint, so I put a nose and whiskers on her face and made her a sparkly skirt. I bought her a black cat ears and she was Splat the cat! Didn't she look cute!
Jolee also had dress up day at school. She could wear her Halloween costume but no masks or fake blook, or face paint. She wanted to wear her dead bride costume from last year so she stuck it in her bag and said she would change into it at school if the other kids were wearing their costumes. After she got home from school Jolee said she wore her costume during a few class periods.
Halloween day while the girls were at school I had a dermatology appointment to get an over scan and for the doctor to look at a spot on my back but turns out everything is fine. While I was out, I did my part and went out and voted.
And look at this cute Pumpkin sitting next to a pumpkin :)

Trunk or Treat at the Methodist Church

Wednesday was trunk or treat at the Methodist Church.
We have been attending this trunk or treat ever since Jaina was a baby.
Jewell couldn't wait to go to trunk or treat and wear her costume. This year for Halloween she said she want to be Rusty for Halloween. Doesn't she look adorable! I think we pulled it off! She looks pretty close to him. I looked online and bought the face mask, gloves and tail. Then I made her skirt. I love how her hair looked like a lions mane!
Jolee was excited to go as well. She wanted to wear her Meagan costume so bad because she did not get to wear it last year. Last year I ordered it off Amazon way before Halloween and it ended up getting to the house the day after Halloween. I remember her being so up set.
She looked cute and scary!
They were ready to go.
Richard came with us. He went as a State Farm Agent, lol.
They had lots of cars set up for the trunk or treat passing out candy and some booths had games.

Jolee was immediately mortified. I could tell she was feeling super embarrassed and did not want to be there which made me a little sad because she was super excited to go at first. She pulled her braids out and was trying to cover her face with her hair so no one would see her.
I remember Jaina going through this stage as well. I mean we've all gone through this stage.
So Jolee went and sat with Jaina and Storie on the curb while Jewell went around to each car.
She got candy and played the games. She was having a good time
She went into the bounce house and we saw a few friends.
Then it was time for the hayride.
We finished up and then headed home.
Richard enjoyed walking around with us and taking videos of the girls
We had a fun time.

Salado Homecoming Dances

The girls both had their homecoming dances; Jaina's was on Saturday and Jolee's was on Sunday. This was Jolee's very first school dance.
Jolee looked soooooo beautiful and grown up for 6th grade!!
I could not get over how cute she looked.

She picked out her dress all on her own. It was very much her style. The theme of the dance was western. I asked her several times if she wanted to dress western and she said, no way. Then I asked her if she wanted to wear a short sparkly dress, and she said absolutely not. So, we went shopping and she picked out this dress. Jaina helped her with her make up and I did her nails and curled her hair for her.

When we got to the dance she said, Mom look, all the girls are wearing short sparkly dresses and I'm in this long grandma dress. She said, I'm scared to get out of the car. I told her she looked cute in her dress, and it doesn't matter what the other girls were wearing, and she didn't have to go but then all of a sudden, she saw her two best friends Alivia and Maddie and jumped out of the car.
When I picked her up, she said she had a god time, danced and hung out with her friends. I'm glad she had a great time :)
Saturday Jaina had her dance. She looked beautiful as well with her date Dylan. She wanted me to take some pictures of her and Dylan with my "big" camera but unfortunately, I had to go out of town for work. She said Grandma and Richard took them downtown to take a few photos.
She said they stayed until the end of the dance and then went out to eat and had a fun time.
Dennis and I had a loooooong road trip to Longview. We had to be at work at 7am and we didn't get home until 12am.
For breakfast going to Longview, we stopped at Geriks Old Czech Bakery in West. Lord have mercy it was good!
We got a cinnamon roll, pecan roll
Kolache and a blueberry cinnamon roll. We of course took most of it home with us, but I will have to say they were probably the best kolaches I have ever had! The bread was sooooo moist and yummy.
We had our graveside service and finally sat down to eat dinner around 7pm. We ate at a Mexican restaurant in Longview called Papacita. I have eaten there once before. It is really good. Then we had a long drive home.
