Room Changes

Tuesday the girls bunk beds came in....finally! The bunk beds came about 2 weeks ago but were damaged during shipping so they brought new ones this week.
I was a little afraid I wouldn't like them even though I knew the girls would love them but it turns out that I really do like them in their room.
Jaina was at school when the delivery guys came and put them together. she was SO excited when she got off the bus to see them
Can you tell she was more then excited to sleep in that top bunk!
Along with Jolee and Otis excited too
I was a little nervous about the girls sleeping in them for the first time. I was scared both girls would roll out of the bed but so far so good. No accidents. Jaina of course gets the top bunk and Jolee is in the bottom bunk.
I was also nervous about how Jolee would react now that she is not in a crib anymore but since the bunk beds came in we have had no problem with getting her to sleep at night and during nap time. They even asked me tonight if it was time for bed. I said sure! and off they went and fell asleep!
I am still working on getting their room looking good so as soon as I do I will post pics

Spring Pictures 2015

Jaina had spring pictures made and they came in today. My order was messed up but I did receive this one. Isn't it adorable! She's gonna break a lot of hearts when she grows up! She's gonna be a knock out! A true beauty and sweetheart :)

33

Today is Justin's 33rd birthday!
Jolee and I spent the morning making Justin a cake. Justin always requests a good meal and a home made cake for his birthday. He's not much of a people person and would rather stay home and enjoy the night at home for his birthday. So Jolee helped me make him a Kansas City Dirt Cake.
I made lasagna and we invited my uncle over for dinner. Then we sang Happy Birthday to him. As you can see we had to improvise since we didn't have any candles, lol. A classic birthday moment
Then he opened his presents.
Jaina made him a tackle box. I picked the box out and then she hand picked all the fishing lures all by herself. She kept saying "Oh daddy needs this one" or "Oh I know daddy would love this one". Then she wrote "Daddy's tackle box" on it and decorated it with stickers.
He loved it :)
I got Jolee a smaller box for her to decorate. He loved her's too
My uncle and I both gave him gift cards to Academy and then we had cake
Happy 33rd birthday to the best father, husband and friend a girl could ask for! 33 is still so young and age is just a number! We hope you had a great day and enjoy being 33! We love you!

Life in General

Life: I haven't done a life post in awhile.
Most of my posts these days are short, sweet and to the point.
Life lately has been content. Plain and simple. We are going through the motions of Jaina's first year in school and adjusting to being on a school schedule. I'm still balancing life of a stay-at-home/working mom. I LOVE working part time even though some weeks it feels like I work full time. Even though I only work 3-4 days a week I still have meetings, training and classes I have to take for work. And a lot of times even though I am home my mind is at work thinking about the families I have to take care of.
I still LOVE staying home a few days of the week to spend time with this girl. Most days are filled with cleaning and running errands. I will have to say taking care of this little girl is much different then taking care of Jaina when she was little. She's not much into crafts and playing like Jaina was. When Jaina was little I had to constantly entertain her, do a craft/project with her, take her somewhere an constantly be by her side. This little one is way more independent even though when we are out in public she becomes dependant. She can entertain herself, she likes watching cartoons, playing with the dogs, playing outside and will even swing by herself. Sometimes I feel guilty for not doing some of the things I did with Jaina that I haven't done with her but she's a different person with a different personality and I have to constantly remind myself of that and tell myself that.
I'm in a different place then I was a year or two ago and its ok that life is a little different.
Sometimes I feel like I'm a little too hard on Jaina and I let Jolee get away with everything. Which I'm aware of, understand and am working on it. Ive always been really strict with Jaina, tried to teach her manners, whats right from wrong, and be a good example to her sister.
And with Jolee I feel that she is, still a baby. Sometimes Jolee can be VERY difficult and more then half the time Justin and I just let her have something just so she wont pitch a screaming fit. Lord knows this girl is LOUD! We understand its not fair to Jaina and were working on handling both girls.
I bought the girls bunk beds about a month ago. Last week the furniture store brought them and set them up but they were damaged so tomorrow they are bringing new ones. On the same day I got rid of Jolee's crib and sold it. She has been going to bed on a twin bed ever since and has been having a little bit of trouble with the change. Last night she wouldn't go to bed and kept saying "mommy I miss my crib", "mommy where's my bed". I felt so sorry for her but she's 2 1/2 and its time to transition out of that stage. Hopefully tomorrow when they bring the bunk beds she can get adjusted to them to where she's not having trouble. She's apparently just like her daddy and doesn't like change! Tonight was the first night she climbed into bed and fell asleep on her own.

Justin asked me last week when I sold the crib if I was sad to see it go.
Heck no! Lol.
I'm just not emotional over the whole baby stuff anymore. Not one bit. I use to get so sad every time I put something away of Jaina's when she was a baby but this time, I'm done. I'm over it. No more babies for me. My friend told me that once I reach that point that I'm truly over it and don't get sad over the baby stuff then that's a sign that you know your truly done having kids.
Another thing I haven't had to deal with when Jaina was little was constipation. This little girl will not potty train much less even go potty in her diaper. She squeezes everything in. We took her to the doctor months ago and it wasn't much help, we have tried everything, mirilax, pear juice, fiber, apple juice, chewable fiber tablets, you name it we've done it. The only thing that I think has worked is the Youngliving Digize essential oil. So tonight I got a bottle and am back to rubbing it on her feet and tummy. Digize is a mixture of a bunch of natural oils blended to make one. I put a couple drops in my hand with a couple drops olive oil and then rub clockwise on her belly and you have to rub the bottom of her feet too. There is some sort of head/foot connection with the intestines so hopefully this will be my answer and it works
A couple weeks ago Justin dug up our garden and tilled this huge section of our back yard for our garden. There is plenty of space now and no rebar stinking out of the ground

Ive got lots of goodies planted this year. 3 tomato plants, squash, all kinds of peppers, eggplants and much more and plenty of space left over to plant more!

First swim of the year

Saturday Salado ISD had all grade level art displayed at the civic center. Since I had to work Justin took Jaina up there to see her display. He said she was very excited to see her work displayed. I asked her what her drawing was and she said it was 4 pictures of her with different emotions on her face.
After that he took her into town to get a new pool for this summer and of course the girls had to immediately try it out
I'm happy that he didn't get too big of a pool this year. Last year he bought a giant one and it was just too big to clean out every day. This one is just right
Jolee in her cute little suit gma bought her
They were already swimming when I got home from work. They were having a blast and playing so well together (for the most part, lol)
Today when the girls and I woke up Justin and gma were already gone :(
Justin took Dorothy to Dallas early this morning so she could fly home today. I'm sure she was anxious to get home. We really appreciate everything you did for us and the girls while we were gone
One of my pretty flowers
Today the girls spent the whole day in the pool. They took a short pizza break then it was back in the pool until it was time to get ready for bed.
I see many, many more pool days in our near future!

Spring Fling

Tonight Jaina's school had their spring fling. The girls were all excited and ready to go when I got home from work
They had a carnival theme with all kinds of games. Here she is doing a cake walk
I was actually very happy that they did not reward every child with a prize if they didn't win. They had to actually win the game to get a prize. If they didn't win they had to stand in line and try again. Builds determination :)
Jolee was not too excited to be there. I'm afraid this child doesn't like crowds of people. I've noticed anytime we go somewhere with a large group of people present she tenses up and wants to leave. Just-like-her-daddy!
They had some candy as prizes but it was mostly little toy prizes they won for the games like, balls, stick hands and tops
Grandma Do Do was having a good time too
After awhile Jolee loosened up enough to play one game with big sissy
Jaina was having a blast and saw a lot of friends and even got in the photo booth with Addy
After it was over we headed to Belton for dinner at grandma's favorite, Mexican food.

This week with gma

Grandma Do Do came down last weekend and has been here helping out since we went to the coast last week. The girls have loved having her down. She's been a big help with getting Jaina ready for school in the mornings, helping Jaina with her AR books and taking care of Jolee while Justin and I get stuff done around here and go to work.
Here is Jolee waiting at the airport for gma
These girls can be a handful!
But oh so sweet too :)
We have also spent the week playing in the back yard

Back to life

We are back to normal life since returning home. It was a full Monday and Tuesday. Today was a bit rough.
The delivery guys brought the girls bunk beds and put them together but after they left I noticed 4 dents and a huge crack in the frame. I wasn't too happy :( They had to come and get them. But on the bright side I scored a full size bedroom set for our extra bedroom for 150.00! Pictures to come later.
Last week while we were gone Jaina had a class field trip to the Waco zoo. She really wanted me to come and I totally would have but that was the day we left to go out of town. She said she had a lot of fun and LOVED the Orangutan the best.
They had a school project over the weekend to make a poster board of her favorite animal and learn 5 facts about it. She chose the Orangutan and grandma helped her with her board.

A week in Port A

Justin's 33rd birthday is coming up soon and all he really wanted was to get away for a couple days and fish. So off to Port Aransas we went
Justin's grandma came down on Monday to stay the week with the girls so Justin and I could get away. We ended up renting a bungalow right on the beach. (A hint to all you beach lovers, if you go on vacay during their "off" season renting a beach house is cheap and usually has great deals like buy 3 nights get the 4th free like ours).
We were so excited to spend a couple days together without the kids. Don't get me wrong we love our children with all our hearts but sometimes you just have to sneak away!
Here we are arriving in Port Aransas. One of our favorite places to vacation in Texas
We arrived about dinner time so we got dressed and headed out
We ended up going to Virginia's on the Bay

The food was SO good!
The next morning Justin got a head start on fishing while I enjoyed the sounds of the ocean while reading and drinking my coffee. What better way to spend a morning!
Then we headed to go get my very first fishing license! My dad will be proud! Justin asked me if I would want to go fishing, sure why not. I remember as a kid my dad took us when we were little a few times. I remember liking it then so why not like it now
We headed to the bay
Here is Justin digging out some live bait
Thumbs up to fishing with my man :)
We didn't catch anything so we decided to take the ferry over to San Jose Island

We were pumped
And so was our driver because he drove that ferry boat about 90 miles an hour!
San Jose island is a short 5 min ride over to a secluded island. There is nothing on the island, not even a bathroom. The ferry boat comes every hour to pick you up, but if your not on the last ride at 6pm then your stuck over there for the entire night! Scary!
The island is 21 miles long of untouched land. Just sand, water and the sun. And a few flowers in between
We walked down the pier to fish
As you can see our trip wasn't that successful lol
Justin kept catching these Sheep Head Fish but they weren't worth keeping

6pm rolled around and we headed back on the ferry to Port A
That night we got dressed and headed to Irie's for dinner. YUM! Awesome food!
The next morning we headed out with our fishing guide on his boat. He took us to the "flats" to hunt fish
Justin was SO excited and immediately hooked a fish
He caught a black drum
Then it was my turn. I have never caught a fish before by myself and this right here was my first! I was pretty excited but unfortunately we had to throw the Lady Fish back in the water because it wasn't legal to keep
The water was nice and calm
Then all of a sudden, I hooked a biggin
I caught the biggest black drum of the day!
And I caught a Red Fish (which apparently in Port A is a big deal)
Justin was a little jealous
But he did hook this mean sting ray. We didn't look at it too long and immediately cut the entire string. Apparently you don't mess around with a string ray
After 5 long hours we hit our 10 fish limit and headed back to shore
We were both excited and proud
48 pounds worth!
The afternoon my sister Steph and her boyfriend Heath arrived. We hung out at the beach for a little bit and then grilled our catch that night. And it was SO good!
The next morning the guys headed out on there fishing guide trip while my sister and I shopped. We shopped for a few souvenirs and had fun
Justin's huge Black Drum!

The guys catch with the fishing guide, Ed
The guys were so pumped about there trip
They night we went and got ice cream and walked on the pier
We had such a good time laughing and hanging out

Friday night the weather got pretty nasty along with the weather on Saturday
It stormed for most of the afternoon. But it was nice to just relax and hang out at the beach house
That evening after the weather cleared we headed out for a drink on the beach
We headed out to dinner for one last meal together before our trip was over
Sunday the sun was shinning and vacation was over
We ad such a relaxing and fun time. There will be many more Port A vacations in our near future :)
