Jewell's First Tooth

This girl finally has a tooth yall!!!!
Jewell seems like she has been trying to cut a tooth since she's been born. I'm not kidding yall. She's had all the symptoms, drooling, swollen gums, being fussy, going to town on her chew toys, ear infections, diaper rash, congestion. You name it she has had it. We thought at 4 months she would cut a tooth but they never popped in. Then I just chalked it up and said well, Jaina didn't have hair or teeth until she was almost 1 1/2 and Jolee cut her teeth shortly after her first birthday. So nine months is early for the Veal girls.
Last week I noticed she was chewing like crazy on her chew toys. Her favorite chew toy is her banana tooth brush and her prickly pickle spoon. She constantly has one of those in her mouth. Then she bit me twice in the shoulder last week!!! It caught me by surprise because I was carrying her and I guess out of fussiness and frustration she just bit me! I kept checking her gums because I thought I saw something in her bottom gums but there was nothing there. And then on Monday I got a text from Diane saying that she cut her tooth. Thank the Lord it's been a rough couple of months I won't lie. She has finally sprung up this last week. She has been feeling good and her congestion seems like it's finally coming to an end. Winter has not been our favorite time so far this year. Sickness in the Veal house definitely took us by surprise this year, Croup, Strep, ear infections, colds, sore throats, and the flu. So needless to say we are happy that Jewell is happy and we are ready for spring!
Haha, Do you like her glasses?!

8 Months

Yes, I'm fully aware that Jewell will be 9 months in just a few days but I wanted to get 8 months in before the month is over. I've been terrible this go around with keeping track of all her stats. I'm just so busy with three little girls these days it's hard for me to keep up.
So let's see what you have been up to at 8 months old
You are in a size 6-9 month clothes
You wear a size 3 diaper
You weigh 20 pounds
You are a big baby
You have a head full of hair and it grows in more and more each day
You drink 6oz of milk at a time about 6-8 times a day
You have no teeth yet
You are getting fast at crawling
You can stand up at the couch and walk along it
You sleep in your own crib now
You had a cold and double ear infection this month
You are always congested and sick
You can bite and have bit me twice in the shoulder
You can hold your own bottle and feed yourself
The girls love you so much and as soon as they get off the bus they sit down and play with you
You love to blow bubbles with your mouth on the couch
You love watching Jolee's every move
You love watching Puppy Dog Pals
You love being by someone at all times
You love your Johnny Jump Up
You love your banana teething toy
You love to play in your crib
You love to laugh and giggle and are always smiling
You love to play patty cake
You love being outside
You love saying Dada and  Bye Bye
You also like to scream and be loud
You love your Gerber squeeze pouches
You do not like loud noises
You do not like to be by yourself
You don't like to sleep by yourself
You don't like green peas
You don't like broccoli crunchies or anything green

You are getting so big. Time is flying by! In just a few short months you will already be one! I can't believe it! You brighten our day and make it better. We love you so much Jewell!

Texas Tulips

Yesterday we took a trip to the Texas Tulip Farm in La Vernia, Texas. It was a rather long trip but it was a nice day to take a ride and the weather was beautiful.

La vernia is close to San Antonio. It was about an hour and half away. Justin decided he didn't want to go so Allie rode with us.
I will have to say I was a little disappointed when we got there because the fields of tulips weren't that thick but we are close to the end of the tulip season here in Texas so what could I expect. There was tons of people there picking tulips. But I made it work and took some cute pictures of the girls.
They had several rows of bright colorful tulips, yellow, pinks, purples, reds and orange. They were really pretty.
We stay for about an hour or so. I got several good photos of the girls. Then I let the girls pick two tulips each.
My girls are growing up so fast, it's bittersweet. Makes me a little sad.
Jewell did pretty good at first I got a few good shots. She got a little fussy and then didn't want to take any pictures.
She liked pulling at the flowers instead of smiling for the camera.
It was a fun experience.
Jolee had fun picking her flowers.

On our way home we stopped in Seguin to check out their town square and the largest pecan in the world.
Jolee even got to throw a penny in the fountain
We walked the town square and shopped
Walking around and having fun

Then we went to the city park
Jewell even got to play. She got to ride the dolphin with sissy
The girls played a long while
Haha, Jewell likes to put her whole paci in her mouth like this
She was having a blast!
My big girl growing up
Jolee loved going down this slide. You could hear her screaming and having fun a mile away
Seesaw time
After we left the park in Seguin we headed to Lockhart to eat at Smitty's BBQ. The food was really good. After dinner we let Jolee play bock bock machine. Haha she got an Army man
Then Jaina played. She kept saying, "Hurry up, hurry up" Haha she wanted to play the machine but didn't want anyone to see her playing it.
Then we went to the candy store. Flash Candy Store was pretty cool. Jolee got candy and Jaina ended up getting some putty. The girls had a great day. Then we headed home.....
Jaina got some devastating news. Gilbert died.
She was SOOOOOOOO upset :(
We are really not sure what went wrong. When we left the house that morning around 10am I turned the heater in the house to 64 degrees. When Justin got home at 6pm he opened the laundry from door and was hit by a wave of heat. He said the house was so hot that the walls felt like they were on fire. He checked the thermostat and it was on 99 degrees! He went to every room in the house and started opening up windows to let cool air inside. He said when he got to Jaina's room Gilbert was moving around in his cage. An hour later when the house was cooled down he went back and closed all the windows. He said that's when he noticed Gilbert was dead. We think he had a heat stroke. We checked our camera in the Livingroom and watched the timeline of the air in the house. When we left that morning to hear was set on 64 and it somehow climbed all day long while we were gone until it reached max heat of 99 degrees and was set to 99 degrees for over two hours in the house! We are not sure what caused it to climb and how it climbed up that high when no one was at the house. We are both concerned and are going to have someone come look at our unit. Jaina has been pretty upset today about the loss of Gilbert. We feel terrible for her. I am glad we do have a doggie for the rest of the animals to get out of the house otherwise we could have came home to a lot of dead animals.
Justin is going to bury Gilbert and the girls have decided to put their tulips on Gilberts grave :(
