Jaina's 9 month Doctor's Check-up

Yesterday we started our day out with some homemade blended bananas and blueberries. Mmmm, it actually looked really good and she actually liked it too! I love making her food for her because it's so easy and so much healthier for her without all that other added stuff in the store bought jars.
Since the weather wasn't (that) hot outside and there was somewhat of a small breeze we decided to get her baby pool out and go for a swim. She really enjoyed her dip in the pool, splashing around and playing with her toys. I let her stay in until her toes got wrinkly :)

Then we got ready for her doctor's appointment. I put her in a new little green outfit that I picked up at JC Penny's. They are having an AWESOME sale right now. I got 2 dresses, a pair of winter pants and a pair of summer shorts for her for like 12 bucks! Everything in the store was marked down then you get 40% off the marked down price. I wanted to by up the whole store but I didn't, I Should go back and do it, hmmmmm she reallllly needs winter clothes.

Then we finally made it to her appointment with Dr. Flippin. This was the first time I got to meet her doctor because her first Dr. moved to the ER and her second Dr. made me cry and then for her 6 month appointment I didn't get to make it because I had to work. But Dr. Flippin was so nice and sweet, I really liked her and so does Justin.

We took her back and they of course made us undress her and the weighted her, measured her and measured around her head. I am happy to say she weighted in at 20 pounds and 3oz, she's 28 inches long and she's in the 75% range. Our doctor says we are right on track with her food schedule and I can start giving her some soft food and milk at 12 months.

I like this picture because it looks like she knows what's coming next! EKKKK! Then we waited to get those nasty old shots. I think I was more scared then she was. The nurse let me hold her in my lap so when she got done I could turn her around and love on her. She got her 3 standard shots. She stuck her first in the left leg and Jaina looked at me and Justin like, "what the heck just happened!) and then she stuck her right leg. And then there was a looooong pause and then a scream :( Poor baby I felt soooo bad for her. We immediately started loving on her and within a second she was fine. I had some good milk waiting for her. I know her pain because I know how bad I hate getting shots but the good thing for her is that she will never remember all this.

Family pictures

Today we all got dressed up and set off to take some family pictures. Jaina turned 9 months last week and I have been wanting to get some pictures taken of her sitting and standing up by herself. I dressed her in a pink top and pink pants that her Great-Aunt Mary gave to her and she just looked soooo cute!
Jaina and I set out early and headed to Lowes for some paint for her bedroom and then Justin met up with us later. She did so good for her pictures I was just so proud of her. We got a really good one of all of us and some of her sitting up and standing by a chair. She looked so big it made me want to cry:( The pictures will come in next week so I will post the pictures then.
Then we headed to HEB and then home where I prepared us an awesome home cooked meal. My uncle came over and ate dinner with us tonight and brought Jaina a really cute light purple Hippo stuffed animal. She loved it so much! We hung out and talked and watched tv until it was her bedtime. Tomorrow we go for Jaina's 9 month doctors appointment and I'm anxious to see what she has to say.

I have nothing

I really have nothing to blog about today. I'm just extremely bored at work. My shift today is from 8:00 A.M to 7:00 P.M. and I have nothing to do. Oh but I am excited though because this week on Tuesday we will be getting some family portraits done and on Wednesday we have Jaina's 9 month doctor's check-up. I'm really anxious to see what the doctor has to say.

Little Miss Jaina has been yapping up a storm here lately. All day long, she yells and screams gibberish for hours on end! After a couple of hours it kinda starts to drive you crazy! :) We have also been practicing how to stand alone but after about two or three tries hers legs become jello and down she stays. Her sleeping patterns have been kinda crazy too. She's wanting to stay up all hours of the night and with two working parents we can't be having that. I think it's just those lil ole teeth coming in. Poor baby. Again no updated pictures so once again you get old ones but since I wasn't a blogger during Christmas I'll share our Christmas pictures we took. (Oh and by the way never take your child to get there pictures taken during there lunch time!) LOL

What in the world is going on around here?

LOL, I must start this one out by laughing because Justin makes me laugh. The other day when I came home from work I walked into the house and Justin says " I got to tell you something" and I'm like "what?" He proceeds to tell that he was in the back yard standing on our back deck and the neighbors cat came into our yard and was trying to start a fight with our cats. So Justin tries to shooo the cat away and then he picks up the wood broom (with a wood handle) and tries to throw it at the cat. Well, instead of throwing the broom he apparently tries to spear the cat and the wood handle is jarrad right into the side of the house! The whole wood handle goes straight through the back of the house. The handle actually went through the siding, through the installation and came out and poked a hole in our bedroom ! How in the world could he have possible have done that! So I go outside to check it out and yep there's a hole in the side of the house, but in the bedroom it looked horrible it was all protruding out. Luckily that's where I started painting the walls so he'll just have to fix it up and I can just continue to paint. I just had to laugh because there wasn't anything I could do about it and the whole situation didn't make since but I guess we know now that it is actually possible to throw a broom stick through your house! LOL
You can see the new paneling that Justin had to put up, now we have to paint it to all match!
Don't mind the wall paint its a hot mess!
Lol, I also find this very funny too, we actually have a watermelon growing in our fence. Yes, a watermelon in our fence! Apparently this little guy worked its way up the fence and wedged its way in the corner and started growing. lol, We decided it would be best to just let this one go, so Justin cut the vine off and we will be taking it down.

On a good note, Jaina really knows who her dada is. When I went to pick her up from Justin's moms house she told me that they were looking at some pictures of Justin and Jaina that I had sent to her and right away when she opened it she said, "Dada"! When we got home last night I showed her some pictures of her Dada since he was at work and not at home. She was so cute, I turned on my camera, held it close so she cause see and she immediately points and says "Dada"!
I also made her, her second batch of baby food. This time she really loved it. I made her banana's and strawberries. Yummy!  I basically took 1 banana and 4 strawberries, and 2 ice cubes and blended it up for her. It was a hit! I would much rather give her some homemade food then food that has been sitting in a jar for months!

Friday: Show us your Wedding Dress

Okay so I'm joining the band wagon with all you guys who do the home tours. So here is my first one: Show us your Wedding Dress
Justin and I got married on October 20, 2007 at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church in Temple and had our reception at the Salado Inn in Salado.
I got my dress when I was living in Mesquite going to school. I had a pretty good vision of what I wanted and when I saw the dress I knew that was the exact dress I was looking for. I knew I wanted something simple and elegant, an A-line dress with a halter top. I looked at a couple of places and so happened to walk into David Bridals during their fall sale and stumbled across it and I got a good deal on it too.
The dress had a small simple train on the back, I just knew if I got something longer I would trip and fall. I also had on white slippers for my shoes ( here's a little secret, if I wear high heals I'm just a little bit taller then Justin) so I thought I would just stick with the slippers on our wedding day. The back of the dress gathered in the butt area and had some simple bead work around the rim of the dress. The front of the dress had some simple, pearl, diamond and white bead work around the bust line. The Vail was my favorite part of the whole dress. I loved the beads around the rim of the vail, it was the same bead work that was on my dress.
And I had two garter's one to throw and one for a keepsake. I actually got all my jewelry, earrings, necklace and bracelet from Sam Moon in Dallas. When you are paying for your wedding all on your own you got to find things that work, right? I am happy to say that after our wedding Justin and I did not owe one penny to anyone!  And of course my husband had on his Class B uniform, mmmm so hot! What would be a wedding without taking pictures on Justin's firetruck!

The Guest Bathroom is DONE!

Yey, I'm finally done with our makeover to our guest bathroom. It took me forever. I'm totally not a decorator or designer at all and frankly it makes me really nervous. But I somehow managed to make it through and got the job done. The people who owned our house before us had kinda of a country style to it and that's really not what I'm aiming for so I decided to go with an elegant look, I guess. H
Here are some photos I took the other day.

I went with a Dark chocolate color for the walls, I know my mother use to always tell me never to put a dark color in your wall but I really love the color brown so I went with it.

The shower curtain was one of my purchases from Bad, Bath and Beyond. It was a little expensive and I really didn't want to spend the money on a shower curtain that hardly anyone was going to use but I did it anyways. It is a shimmery blue with a dark brown design on it.
This next find was at Hobby Lobby for 50% off which was a total steal!

Next, I decided to take down all the original hardware that was in the bathroom and replace it with all dark brown steel, like this shower rod, a great find at Wal-Mart.
This is probably my best accessory that I found for the bathroom. I absolutely love it. I took down the original towel rack and replaced it with this one. It was my last Hobby Lobby purchase also 50% off, its dark brown steel with crystal knobs to hang your towels on.
Coming into the bathroom I hung two pictures on Jaina in dark brown frames which I already had. I love re-using things that I already have, it makes them feel new all over again.
Turning to the sink area I just put a picture of Justin and I and a brown cross that I already had on the counter.
I then replaced the original towel holder with this great buy again from Hobby Lobby which was not 50% off but it was only 2.99 so who's complaining.
And my last item was this cross plaque that I bought again at Hobby Lobby for like 5 bucks which hangs above the door as your walking out.
So I hope you enjoyed my guest bathroom home tour. The one thing I found out while doing this little project is that you have to trust your self on stuff, you must shop around and if you don't have a whole lot of money like me it really doesn't cost a whole lot to make a room look fabulous!
And what would be a post without bragging on my daughter a little. Last night right before it was Jaina's bedtime I tried to snap a couple of shots in her cute little T-shirt that her 2nd cousin Rachel and great uncle Rick sent her. Let's just say it was really time for bed in these photos.
Sorry Rach this was the best shot I could get.
Jaina received these two shirts via mail last week and we all thought that they were so cute! Jaina says Thank You!

Jaina, You are 9 months old!

Doesn't she look so big in this picture?! Yesterday Jaina turned 9 months old. I can't BELIEVE 9 months have gone by sooooo fast. It makes me so sad :( I truly want her to stay a baby forever. We celebrated her day by going shopping! Jaina and I headed out after her morning meal of cereal and fruit. I dressed her in this cute little outfit that her Aunt Mary bought her. I love this outfit on her so much. We spent the day in Temple, where our first stop was to Hobby Lobby and their  50% sale was still going on! I picked up my last accessory to complete our extra bathroom (will post pictures later). We also stopped by Bed, Bath and Beyond and Ross just to browse for ideas for the rest of the house. Jaina was so good while we were shopping. She made smiles at everyone and laughed and looked at everything in the store.
Then we ate lunch at our favorite place the Olive Garden. I worked as a waitress there for 4 years in high school and college. I would honestly say that was my most favorite and fun job I have ever had. Jaina slept almost the whole time we were there. She woke up just before we left. I fed her some yummy squash and a bottle of milk for desert.

Then we headed to JC Penny were I have been dieing to buy this comforter set for our bedroom that I have been eyeing but when we got there they didn't have the one I was looking for. So we cruised the mall before we left.

Our last stop was to see Daddy at work. She was so excited to see her Daddy. He had to celebrate with us so I took some pictures of Daddy and Jaina in front of the firetruck.
We put Jaina in the front seat of the Firetruck and Justin blew the horn I thought she pooped her pants with the look she had on her face! I think she was just a little scared of that sound.

So what has Jaina been up to lately you might ask?
She knows how to do all of the following:

She is the master at crawling.
She can pull herself up and walk around the end tables and couch.
She can clap her hands together.
She can say "Momma and Dada".
She can out babble and talk gibberish then any baby and yell to the top of her lungs.
She has two bottom teeth coming in and is working on some other bottom teeth.
She is eating stage 2 foods along with mommy's home cooked baby food.
She has almost out grown her 6-9 month clothes.
She can put herself to sleep at night with no problems.
She sleeps from 10:30 P.M to 9:00 A.M. with no interruptions.
She can hold her bottle all on her own with NO help.
She weights around 20lbs (will be going to the doctor next week to know for sure).
She loves when I sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to her and she really loves when her Daddy sings to her.
She smiles and laughs more then any other baby I know.
She can entertain herself and is always keeping herself busy.
She loves being in the water and knows how to stand up in the bath tub.
She can dance to music (well bounce up and down).
She is our human Vacuum cleaner she can pick up the smallest objects on the floor and try to eat it.
She loves to play Peekaboo and patty cake.
And she really knows what the word "NO" means.

She has been practcing:

Standing alone and trying to walk.
Pointing her finger at objects.
Waving bye-bye

and drinking from a sippy cup.
HAPPY 9 MONTH BIRTHDAY JAINA!!!!

Look what I found!

Friday night I had to stay late at work and one of our part timers came in to help us. We were talking and she has a granddaughter who is only a month older then Jaina and she was telling me about how bad she is teething too. She was telling me that there is this little pacifier that she bought at Wal-mart that has this little net on the end of it. You can put all kinds of stuff in it like watermelon, ice, popsicles, and the babies suck and bite on the net part and it makes their teeth feel better. Now how cool is that! The holes in the net are small enough that nothing can get through so they can choke. I immediately had to rush to Wal-mart and get one, I think I paid like $3.50 for it and it's in the bottle and pacifier section. When we got home I couldn't wait to have Jaina try it out. I put some cold popsicle in the net and gave it to her. She looked at me like I was crazy! LOL I had to show her how to suck on it and then she tried it out. I think this just might do the trick but we will see.
