Lily and me

A few Saturdays ago I was in desperate need of a babysitter and my friend Rosie was more then happy to watch Jaina for me. She has a daughter 6 months younger then Jaina so it was perfect for her. Rosie told me she was excited to see them play together. Justin dropped her off in the morning before he went to work. Rosie said they had so much fun together and posted some pictures for me of their play day.

Driving her carJaina and LilyThis one just cracks me up! HahaSo cute! I wish I could have been there to see them play together. Thanks Rosie!

I miss her already

This morning Justin took Jaina to Dallas. His Grandmother flew in from Tennessee and will be taking care of Jaina for us while we are gone and I already miss her soooooo much. I keep thinking over and over, what if that was the last time I'll ever get to see her.
I'm getting super nervous about our trip now. I keep saying "what if" our boat sinks, or a big wave hits us or what if this or what if that.
Justin suggested that we make out a little "will" if something were to happen to us. Now how freaky is that! I did make one out at work today. Is that a bad omen???
But anyways I do have these sweet pictures of my precious daughter to remind me of how beautiful she is.

How I met my husband

This week on Kelly's Korner she is hosting: How you met your husband, well here's our story.
I was attending Temple college and living in a dorm apartment with three other girls. Justin was in the Temple Fire Academy and living with his mom in Austin but mostly staying with the other fire and ems students in the apartment across the court yard. Every day at lunch my roommates would say, Come out on the balcony and look that those hot fireman and I would never go outside because I had no interest to go outside and look.
Well one night my friend Carolyn who I barely knew at the time invited me to this party but I told her i wasn't going to go because I had three other events i had to go to but everything fell through. So I bravely went to this party by myself to hang out with Carolyn. As soon as I walked in I saw Justin and said "ew he's hot and she said oh no don't get involved with him". I said okay. But the whole night he kept bugging me, sitting by me, and asking me out and I kept turning him down but he kept persisting on so I finally said yes.We went on our first date and had a blast. I remember sitting outside on our balcony talking to my roommate's saying " I'm going to marry him one day even though he may not know it" and my roommate said Joanna you've only known him for 2 weeks! But I just knew he was the one.
After 1 1/2 years of talking back and fourth we started dating. We dated 6 months and then he proposed to me on the beach. We were engaged for a 1 1/2 and then on October 20, 2007 we were married.
We have been married 2 1/2 years now and have a happy healthy baby girl. We couldn't be happier and cant wait to see what the future holds for us!

My biggest nightmare came true today!

I have two nightmares pertaining to my work. Getting my procession lost going to the cemetery or pulling up to the cemetery and the grave hasn't been dug. Well one of two happened to me today. I knew it was bound to happen one of these days.
We were extremely busy today, we had three services today which is extremely rare for us. Normally we have two at the max. I use to work at the largest funeral home in the country in Dallas,TX and on average we had up to 15 a day (only because we had 3 chapels on our property so I'm pretty use to having a busy schedule. I was the FDIC (Funeral Director in Charge) today since our other funeral director was gone so everything was on me. I had everything under control until 9 workers showed up at 8 in the morning to help with all 3 services. So needless to say there was way too many chiefs and not enough Indians. So my voice somehow got lost in the chaos and I was no longer the FDIC.
All three services went perfect. On my last service after a very long and exhausting day I was leading my procession to the cemetery with the pastor in the car with me. I knew exactly how to get to the cemetery, we've been there many times before. I was following my escorts and was caught up in a conversation with the pastor in my car and I missed the turn to the cemetery! Yes, I missed the turn to the cemetery. I drove across the highway into a neighborhood then slammed on my brakes and said " Oh Sh**, D***" really loud then remembered I had the pastor in the car with me! I was sooooooo embarrassed! I wanted to die! He was dieing laughing at me and I said oh my gosh I'm so sorry, he said its alright, i thought it was funny because your face turned bright red! So I try to turn my procession around and the cops throw theirs hands up in the air like "what are you doing" then the cops took me through the neighborhood to get back out on the highway. We finally made it to the cemetery and my co-workers couldn't stop laughing and making fun of me and luckily the family didn't even notice that we went the wrong way so it all work out in the end. I just hope my other nightmare never happens because that would be horrible!!!!

An Early Birthday

Tonight we celebrated Justin's 28th birthday with dinner and cake. Justin's birthday isn't really until the 28th but we will be out of town so I thought since everyone was here then we would just celebrate early.
Why can't my husband EVER take a serious family picture? My mom was there along with my uncle. My mom fixed some awesome lasagna and then we had cake, but just a "baby" cake. No need to buy a big cake for 4 people.
Jaina was ready for dinner and pretending she was eating
Then it was time to sing happy birthday, I think she was a little confused thinking it was her birthday, lol
Then he opened presents. My uncle gave him an awesome gift, Beer! Haha, Justin loved it! Along with some gift cards and a few other things and my parents gave some extra spending money. Jaina made her daddy a card and drew her hand print on it. I have been tracing her hand print on all his cards since she was born. It's just a little reminder of how little she once was. She also gave him a framed photo of her and her daddy together and an IOU for a flat screen tv so they can sit in bed at night and watch tv together.
I unfortunately did not give him his present tonight because I am actually taking it with us on vacation and giving it to him on his actual birthday.
Okay now time for a serious family photo, just excuse my dirty window in the back ground, lol.
We would also like to say Happy Birthday to Justin's mom today as well. She is turning the big 5-0! Justin took her out to eat for her birthday at lunch and I wasn't able to go because of work so Jaina and I would like to give her a BIG kiss from us to her and say Happy Birthday!!

Almost a Mommy Meltdown

Yesterday was a very challenging day for both Jaina and I. I knew I probably should have put her in daycare but I really wanted to spend my day off with her but it didn't go as planned.
We will be setting sail on our cruise vacation on Monday ( that's in 5 days by the way!!!) and I desperately needed to get my roots done so I made an appointment early Monday morning. Jaina was in great spirits and the girls at the shop love when I bring her so I said why not. She did fairly well and for the most part she really behaved after spending 2 hours there. We made a stop to have lunch but she wouldn't eat a bite and was starting to get a little fussy. We also made a stop by my work so I could show her off and then we went to the nail salon. I actually hate getting my nails done but thought I would impress the old hubby by sprucing myself up for this trip. I thought to myself that this might be a big mistake since I knew Jaina was looooong over due for a nap but this was my only day off until Monday and I had a ton of things to get done.
For the first 5 minutes she did really well and then just had a meltdown. I was so embarrassed. And it wasn't her fault it was mine because I knew this just wasn't fair to her. I tried everything to calm her down. Even the nail tech tried calming her down by painting her nails. I know it was one of those moments where your child is crying uncontrollably and everyone is just staring at you like "get control of your kid". After speeding through a nail job I told the lady not to worry about my pedicure and I think she was a little relieved, Ha!
Next we were off to the doctors office. She fell asleep as soon as we got in the car and had a semi good nap for about an hour but it apparently was not enough because when we got to the doctor she was yapping and screaming, throwing books around and making mommy want to cry! I was not sick but the doctors office MADE me make an appointment to get a prescription for a sea sick patch! Isn't that crazy! Don't you think they would rather spend their time on a patient that was actually sick?? (It didn't make since at all) So I see the doctor for a total of 5 minutes and then I go to pick up my 4 patches and the lady at the counter said ("that will be 42.00 dollars) What?! And that's after insurance! Geeeezzzz after a 75 dollar trip, a 5 minute doctors appointment I would just rather throw up!
We finally got home and we were both worn out! I think for now on if I have another busy day that I need to get things done that don't involve Jaina then I would just rather stick her in daycare cause at least she would be having fun with her friends. And let this be a BIG lesson to all moms, Don't take your kids with you to the nail salon or any other personal errands!!! (Big sigh)

Goodbye old highchair

Well it's come that time again when we say goodbye to yet another one of Jaina's baby items.....her high chair :( It does make me a little sad, even Justin said he was a little sad to be putting it up. I told him don't worry it will be coming down in just a few years aways (smile). He just gave me a look (frown) and said I don't think so. Haha!
For the last couple of weeks she has not wanted to sit and eat food in her high chair. She will stay in it for about 5 minutes and then she's over it and wants to get down or she makes a big mess all over her self and her chair. And when we go to restaurants she doesn't want to sit in high chairs either only in booster seats. I think she feels like a big girl in a booster chair. So Justin and I came to conclusions that it was time to put her chair up and get a booster seat for home. I went to Target and they had several to choose from so I got this one and its great! It comes with a little tray but she would rather eat at the table like mommy and daddy do. And it's been such a blessing since we got it. She will actually sit and eat her food now!
Other then that she now can say apple, out and all gone. Ahhhh I love my little girl!

We're on Set!

Today my co-worker and I skipped out of work for a little bit to check out what's been going on, on the set of the movie True Grit. If you missed my post a couple of weeks ago, I posted that in Granger, TX which I drive through everyday going to work, they are filming the re-make of True Grit with Matt Damon :) We heard around town that they were suppose to fill the street with dirt and start filming this weekend so we headed down there to check it out. The set is really cool. They have built some new buildings and did frame work around the original buildings as well. But sadly there is nothing in the building at least not yet. We thought it was really cool to just walk the set before the actors even get there. I know we're dorks. But here are some pictures we took today of the set before it starts filming.
Oh don't mind me I was a HOT mess today a work. But who woulda known an "Undertaker" under the Undertaker sign, Haha!

And for the fun of it we drove by this house on the way back to work. This house was the house used in the re-make of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

And this is the sign that sits out on the road of that house, haha I love it!
