The root of the problem

Today I had an appointment with an Endodontist for a root canal. About 6 months I started going to a new dentist and needed my regular exam and cleaning. The dentist found a small cavity on one of my upper molars and said it was no big deal. I had the procedure done and ever since I had it done my tooth never felt right. The first few weeks when I would bite down when eating I would get this horrifying sharp as heck pain race through my tooth. I knew that could not be normal so i went back to the dentist and he said everything was fine. Then a few weeks later I developed horrible sensitivity on that tooth to cold and hot and even air! Again I knew this couldn't be right so I gave it a couple months and just tried to avoid eating on that side of my mouth. By Christmas I had enough and went in and once again they reassured me that everything was fine and it should all go away with time. okay??? How long? They told me to give it up to a year and then come back and see them! huh?
Then by late January I started getting horrible headaches, jaw pain and horrible face/cheek bone pain. I had HAD enough!!! I went back in once again and said  something is WRONG! So they did an xray and sure enough I had an infection. (no telling how long either) and I needed a root canal.  The x ray also showed I had TWO roots in that one tooth and they could not perform it at their office so I had to go to a specialist. Both roots were infected and needed to be cleaned.
I wont lie I was a little nervous going in today but was also thrilled that I would not be in pain anymore after the procedure. I had a root canal done in high school which I don't remember it hurting at all, though I was a little braver back then, or fearless I guess or probably glad I was getting to miss school.
They gave me 6 shots in my mouth to numb me. I couldn't feel a thing and they were very nice about taking a break if i needed one. The only thing I LOATH is the noise and the smell!! Ugh horrible!
I took a quick selfie during our 5 minute break while the nurse and doctor stepped out of the room. I HAD to send it to Justin just to gross him out, lol. Justin said I look like Alf in this picture, Bahahahaha!!
They gave me these cool sun shades to wear during my procedure and wrapped  my mouth with this blue rubber mask and had a bite block all in at the same time....very attractive. It was going to be a 2 part session but the dentist decided to get it all done in one day (Thank You Lord) I still have to go back and get a cap put on but I'm just so glad its all over and I can eat like a normal person again.
If anyone is nervous about getting a root canal done its really not that big of a deal and didn't hurt at all. The only thing that hurts is getting the shots and your mouth will be sore from wear the shots went in afterwards. The only thing that did happen was my jaw started shaking really bad from having my mouth open for so long but other then that no biggie!

It was bound to happen one of these days

So this totally happened tonight.....
I've been anticipating this moment for a while now because every little 5 year girl does this. I remember as a child I thought it would be super funny to sneak off into the bathroom while my entire family including my granny and uncle were in the other room to cut a chuck of my bangs off, right in the middle. I remember my mom's expression to this day and what she said to me (sorry mom) lol
Jaina not only knows how to use our iphones, ipad, lap tops but now knows her way around our desk top. She can control the mouse and everything. She likes using the desk top because she likes playing "her" games like Nick Jr. games on it. She will ask to use the computer and normally I trust her enough to leave her in the back room by herself to play the games while I'm cleaning coming and going in and out of our room. She has also learned how to use scissors at school and always asks if she can "cut". Most of the time I let her use kid scissors to cut magazines or whatever she wants while I'm watching her, otherwise she knows she's not suppose to use them.
Well today after I picked her up from school she asked to play her games and I was in and out of the room folding and putting up laundry. When she was done I didn't notice anything unusual until later in the day when I needed to get on our computer for something. I then see hair just laying on the computer desk like it was no big deal!!!
I was shocked! I asked her if she had cut her hair and she said yes while laughing. I couldn't really tell where she had cut it because her hair was all messy.  I told her she was never allowed to use scissors when were not around and especially to cut her own hair!!!
Luckily it was just a little bit of hair and it wasn't right up front. Hopefully she learned her lesson that its not funny to cut her hair or her sister's hair for a matter of fact!
I couldn't help but laugh inside cause I remember how funny I thought it was.
I wonder what provokes little girls to do this?

Jolee on the other hand brought me this skeleton stuffed animal to me yesterday, dropped it right in front of me and started crying. I picked it up, showed it to her and asked her what was wrong, she then shrugged her shoulders and took off the other direction screaming and crying. I'm guessing she is afraid of it because I showed it to her a few more times and she screamed each time.
Lol, guess we will have to hide him for now just like we hid the talking tomb stone Jaina's scared of that we use at Halloween.
Ahhhhhhh the joys of parenting!!!

Sleep Regression

Sorry about yesterday's post, lol obviously you could tell I was super tired when writing that post by all the grammar errors. Most of the time I write before I go to sleep and I'm so tired that my eyes are going cross eyed, lol.
Anyways
For the last couple weeks Jolee has been waking up in the middle of the night usually around 4-5am.
She will scream out and cry until I go get her and usually she will scream out momma, momma! Justin will usually get mad that I go and get her and bring her in bed but I can't help it because I feel so sorry for her. She is usually trembling with massive tears runny down her face. But once I bring her in bed with us she just wants to stay awake and play. I then put her in between us and she usually stays awake for an hour or more looking at the ceiling and playing with her hands. But then she will start talking, kicking and slapping us in the head which wakes us both up and then non of us get any rest.
So what's a mother to do, why yes google it, lol. I read that around 18 month babies go through a growth spurt and their sleep schedule gets all messed up and some times will refuse naps during the day. Luckily she loves her naps and will take 1-2 during the day. There night time sleep can get messed up as well and they will revert back to when they were first born and this is called sleep regression. It says that if baby wakes up screaming out to not bother the child, that bothering and picking up the child will make it worse (as we (I) have figured out). It says that the baby will usually cry for 10 minutes or so and will go back to sleep. Even if the child has had a night terror they say its better to let the child work through it. and if the child cries more then 10 minutes to go in and rub there back and let them know you are there and they are safe but do not pick up the child.
So I've tried this method the last week or so and it has been working. It's SO hard not to grab your child when they are crying out and calling your name. She has been waking up more frequently as well but goes back to sleep with in minutes. It said that this is usually a short phase and it shoud pass once the baby is done with the growth spurt and this week has been smooth sailing with no waking up during the night.
Its so crazy to think that each child is different and you will parent each child differently I'm just glad I'm able to get more sleep this week. Amen to that!

Bunch of random pictures

Jaina is getting pretty good at her letter recognition. One morning while Jolee was sleeping we got out her letter and a coke sheet so she could stick the letters to it. We were missing a few letters but she did good.
Hopefully she will retain it for kindergarten this coming up year.
Here she is one day after school showing me one of her Valentine card
Jolee has been practicing flushing and sitting on the potty
One day last week Jaina was bored she I printed her out list of things you see in nature to go on a scavenger hunt. We waked on our street so she could find her items on her list
Jaina really enjoyed this activity. She would mark it off as she found it and Jolee really enjoyed her ride in her push car

Jaina wanted to ride up front in the cart with Jolee. Jaina's legs are way too be getting in the front seat these days
Jaina is learning about Presidents at school. Here she is as George Washington
Here is a penny picture they made. She was excited because her teacher let them wash the penny before they glued it to there picture
We made cookies and had cookies and milk as a snack one afternoon while enjoying the sun
hahaha you always need your shades on when using the potty
And this is how she rides at Walmart lol
She's a mess!

Ghostly Adventures

Today we wanted to do something fun since the weather was nice, so we went to a real ghost town. Since Justin was working my uncle came with us and it turned out to be alot of fun and a unique experience.
Jaina was scared to get out of the car and was clinging to the back of my pants the entire time. She thought she was going to see a real ghost here, lol
I stumbled across this website called Jacobs guide a while back about fun little places to go to around central Texas and this happened to be one of them.
The Grove is still a real place but is considered to be a true ghost town because everything in town is closed up.
They use to do tours of the buildings and town history but they closed that up a couple years ago so we basically just walked around and looked at all the buildings
This was once a real Western town booming in the 1850's and these are still all of the original buildings. It was really neat to try and imagine living back then and envisioning this being a real working town.
They had everything you would need back in the 1800's. A general store, jail, sheriff office, doctors office, barber shop, bank, lawyer, blacksmith, hotel, saloon and the town's "brothel".
They even had a well in the middle of the town square
The saloon had actual swinging doors at one time. Like you would see off an old western movie
When my granny was alive and lived at the nursing home her room mate Mrs. Lambright was born and raised right here in The Grove
It was really neat.

This was  the bank inside the museum. The museum was closed but I was still able to get some good shots
There was alot of cool artifacts you could see from outside the window
this was were the general store use to be

The doctors office was upstairs from the post office

We walked over to look at the old gas pump
After we left The Grove we went to Winklemen's pecan farm and got us a pecan roll and then went to see Justin at  the fire station
The girls got to play in the fire truck for a while. He even took Jaina around the building in it and let her sit in his lap and blow the horn
Jolee kept saying "Woooooooow"

Jaina was So excited
He even let her spray water out of the hose
Then we took a lunch break at Choo Choo's hamburger's and then went to the Sugar Shack in Salado
We walked around town and went into a couple of the shops and even hiked up to the old school grounds. This falling down building was once the town's primary school all the way to college which dated back to 1859. Real cowboys went to school here
Then we came home so the girls could play with Justin's old fire truck before going to bed
You don't have to travel far to appreciate the things in your own back yard and that's just what we did today. So glad we got out and experienced something new.

18 months

Jolee you are 18 months old. Lets see what you have been up too
You are a busy girl these days and talkin up a storm. You can now say 2 words at a time like, happy day, night night, momma down. You say about 15-20 words and jabber all the time. I love when you pick up my phone and start jabbering and then at the end you say, "bye bye" haha.
You are still one the same sleep schedule though you have had a few rough nights lately. You wear size 18 month clothes, size 4-5 shoe and size 3 diapers
You love music! Any time you hear a beat you start bouncing. You have to eat, you eat all the time. You love your baby dolls. You love to cuddle. You fight with your sister and Dixi all the time. You scream and shout at them, push them around and cry and throw a fit if you don't get your way. You have thrown yourself on the floor a couple of times already. I'm NOT looking forward to your terrible 2's cause its gonna be bad for all who's involved, lol.
You don't like strangers, loud noises and your a picky eater though you do love food. You LOVE balls and love to throw it and run after it. You will defiantly be a sports girl. You like watching sesame street in the morning and love your chocolate milk
Your personality is defiantly like a Veal, out going, funny, loud, busy and active. You love the water and love to take a bath with your sister. You are still sleeping in your baby crib. You have started to dabble a little into potty training. We got your sisters potty chair out and you have been practicing sitting on it and "flushing" it. lol
You are a sweet girl full of life and bring such joy to our family and our hearts. I cant believe you are already 18 months old and in just a few short months you will be 2! Time flies!
We love you Jolee!!!

mommy/daughter date night

Tonight Jaina and I had a little mommy/daughter date to the movies. Rosie asked me over the weekend if we wanted to meet her and Lily at the movies to see the movie Frozen. The movie was really good and so was our pop corn :) She even sat in my lap for half the movie :)
After the movie was over we were walking around the mall and she said "your the best mommy ever". It made my day! It felt so good to hear that. Its been a loooong time since Jaina and I have had a one on one date since Jolee has been born. Usually it is the 3 of us or if I do have Jaina we are usually running to the grocery store or running errands. It was nice just spending time with my first baby alone. She even said "its just us, just me and you"
She likes to walk inside the mall. I let her pick out what stores she wanted to go into to. Her favorite store is bath and body works. She likes to go in there and smell all of the different scents they have. We also went into Toys' R Us and Claires
I told Justin we might have a problem on our hands with that attitude! Lol
We had a great night and enjoyed each others company. Its important for kids to have that one on one time with their parents without their brothers and sisters tagging along. I will be planning more in our future!

Family Pics

For a while now Ive been wanting to take family photos.   We haven't taken any pictures as a family since Jolee was 6 weeks old.
This past weekend was the first weekend its been nice and we were able to connect our schedule with my sister's so she could take some photos of us.  And let me tell ya....it was a disaster!!! Lol
I only picked out the best one's which turned out great in my opinion
We went to the train park in Temple . The weather was really nice in the 70's but it was super super windy!!!
I knew I only had a few minutes before the girls lost interest in what we were doing

Little Red!!!
Pretty girl

I always get her with my jokes :)
And then they slowly started to fade
Jaina scraped her elbow aganist a tree, Jolee refused to look at the camera
And Justin had enough
all while I kept a smile and tried holding it all together
Now I know all those family photos on pinterest are a lie. Who can really keep there 1 year old in place for a photo while their 5 yr old is pouting and crying. lol oh well atleast we got a couple new photos to put in our livingroom Lol
