Summer Band Camp

This summer Jaina had to attend band camp. Her summer really ended the second week of July because she had freshman band camp. The first week of camp was just for the new Freshmen. She would go from 8am-10am and then for the next following 3 weeks after that the entire band would practice from 8am-12:30pm. She said it was fun. They practiced learning and playing the fight song, songs for the upcoming football season and how to walk with their instruments across the football field. 

She also got to have a few dress rehearsals in her twirling costume. They also took baton and band pictures to be placed around the field during the football season. 

Kool for the Summer

Summer for us is officially over now that school is in full swing. Overall, we had a great summer. Vacation, with a little bit of relaxing, camps and just hanging around the house. We spent many evenings out in the pool and on the front porch. 

Now that September is right around the corner, we are ready for some cooler weather.

It's wild!

Well, our neighborhood almost burnt down. Well actually three houses down almost burned up in flames. A few weeks ago, right before school started Jaina wanted to go over to Stories house for one last sleep over. So, I drove her over and, on the way, back home I spotted some thick black smoke very close to our house. I decided to drive past our house and saw our neighbor's backyard on fire! 

Panic struck and I quickly called Justin since he was home with the girls, then I flagged down a cop that was driving by and then called 911. After I got off the phone with 911, I watched the flames get higher and decided to turn around and go home. Jolee was at home and said Justin immediately ran down to the neighbor's house and banged on their door. He said they answered and had no idea their fence was on fire. Justin and the owner took hoses to the flames and tried to contain it until the fire department arrived. Jolee and I watched from the pool in the back yard. Once the fire department showed up, they got it put out. 

Our neighbors thanked us for letting them know. I'm glad I saw it and reported it before it spread to our yard!

Doctor Veal!

This girl is having a blast at school. She loves going to school so far. She likes to pack her own lunch and likes to pick out her outfit. She says they learn and play at school, take a nap and eat lunch. So far so good!

And she has recently discovered the candy match game. Jennifer gave Jaina this game when she was little. This game has been a favorite for all of them. 

Luv 2 Play

The next day the girls wanted to get back in the pool but since we had spent all day Friday in the pool, we told the girls no and instead we took them to Luv 2 Play in Killeen. This place was pretty cool. It had a huge climbing jungle gym, ball pit, a few rides and an arcade. 

This is where I confirmed Jewell has a fear of heights. Not like a little fear but a BIG fear! She has said to me before that she is scared of heights but didn't really think anything to it because I thought maybe she heard someone say it before or saw it on a cartoon but I'm here to tell you, she don't like heights!

She would go up three steps and would get terrified and want to come down, saying "I'm scared of heights". So, I picked her up and tried to go to the top with her thinking she would go if I was up there with her, wrong! She was screaming bloody murder saying, "Mommy I'm scared" so down we went and stayed.

So instead, she played in the baby area and was pretty content.

She rode this moving banana seat several times.

After a few hours we were ready to go. 

I'm glad the girls had fun but I'm not sure if we would ever come back knowing Jewell was not ever going to climb up to the top to play.

Then we were off to eat at Chewy's

Then back home for....more swimming

We had a great time with Saylor and Steph over the weekend and glad they came up for a visit.

Summer Fun Day

After the fourth of July Jennifer and Mimi left and went back home and then I work a few days and then Stephanie, Saylor and Heath came up to stay a few days.

They came up on Thursday evening. They were already at the house when I got home from work. The girls had already swam, played her Jewells room and were on the trampoline.

Friday morning we got ready for a full day of fun in sun. The girls had breakfast

And then we loaded up the car to head to Summer Fun. 

Summer Fun is a small water park in Belton. We haven't been in a few years since we got the pool. And yes, we could have saved money and stayed home to swim but we wanted to break it up and go to the park instead. 

They have a kiddie section, slides, deep in, rope swing and lazy river

Jewell and Saylor had a blast! Jewell went down this slide atleast a 100 times

We spent most of the day in the kiddie section. They brought their Barbies to play with in the pool

Mid day we took a break and had some lunch

Jaina took Brody along. They spent most of their time in the lazy river but came to hang out with us every now and then

The girls really enjoyed their time. The only thing we were missing was Jolee :( 

We stayed until about 4pm and then headed out to get snow cones and head home to eat pizza

We had a great day of fun!

It's the 4th Baby

Happy Fourth of July!

We had a very relaxing fourth. Jolee was still at grandma's and Jaina spent the day with her friends. Jennifer, Jewell and I swam in the pool almost the entire day. We made some pork sandwiches and then sparked a few fireworks outside

We didn't do too many just because it has been so dry outside with NO rain in site. Justin was afraid we would catch the neighbors house on fire.

Jewell had fun with the smoke bombs, pop its and sparklers

Then we headed into Temple to watch the big fireworks show

We decided to go to Justin's fire station and watch from the parking lot

I will have to say it was a pretty short show this year and wasn't that magical but thankful we got to get out and go see it. 

After the show we headed straight home

When Honey comes to town

During July Jennifer and Mimi came down to spend a few days at the house with us. She wanted to come up and hang out for her birthday.

I had a few days off from work so it was perfect timing. We went to Salado and to Belton and did a little shopping. 

We had fun walking the Belton downtown square and hunting for antiques.

Then we headed back to the house to celebrate, sing Happy Birthday and eat some strawberry cake

Jewell was looking forward to eating a big bite of that cake!
