This weekend the girls had Girl Scout camp at Camp Kachina. Since this past week was my working weekend my boss let me off just for Saturday so we opted to just do day camp. Check in was at 10am and day campers ended at 4pm.
The girls were so excited.
Their first task while I checked them in was to make an Indian headband. Each troop was a certain color feather and then they had to pick an Indian name out of a bag.
Juniors were green and her Indian name was "Fog Walker".
The Daisies were blue and Jolee's Indian name was "Opal Eagle".
Then we split up into our groups. I went with the Daisies since I am a troop leader and Jaina went with her group.
They had an opening ceremony and then our first session was at the fire pit. The older girls read the story "The Indian Paint Brush" to the girls and then they got to paint a totem pole
Here they are painting their totem poles.
Next was a game of Ga Ga Ball. The object of the game is to only use your hands to hit the ball. If it touches your feet or any other body part you are out.
Their next session was to learn and draw pictographs.
We saw the biggest grub climbing up this tree!
Then we were back at the Kiva cabin for lunch. Jaina said she was having fun.
Lunch was two pieces of white bread, one slice of cheese and one slice of meat with a fruit of choice and a bag of chips.
Our next session was making Kachina masks
Jolee's turned out cute!
Next was making the "Eye of God"
Making friends in Girl Scouts. Here's all the girls in the Daisy troop. Their all so cute and fun :)
Our last session for the day was spent talking about camp fire safety.
Jaina went to all the same sessions just at different times.
Here are all the girls the entire troop. From Daisies to cadettes.
The girls said they really enjoyed camp and wished they could have stayed the night in the cabin. Maybe next time!
We were all sooooooo tired. We didn't even make it out of the parking lot and both girls were asleep.
