Today...and a few other random things

Today Jaina and I decided to get out of the house and go shopping. Daddy was at work today so it was the perfect opportunity for us to shop for as long as we wanted to. We headed to Temple for the day. Our first stop was to Hobby Lobby which I love and they were having a huge sale almost everything in the store was 50 % off. We shopped there for almost 2 hours! Then we headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond were I got the shower curtain I've been eyeing since I started re-doing our guest bathroom. I'm painting the bathroom dark brown and the shower curtain I bought is a shimmery grayish blue and dark brown, very pretty. Then we headed to Ross just to look and then to Joanne's fabric where I found the perfect upholstery material for our head board we are making. Then to Tuesday morning and Big lots where I really didn't find anything. Next we were off to Lowe's to buy the rest of the paint I needed and then our last stop was to HEB. In the last two days I think we have picked about 30 tomatoes from our garden so I'll be making canned salsa for the next week! Jaina was absolutely a doll the whole time we were out, she never fussed and just looked at everything she could. Justin and I are sooooo blessed for having such a good baby. God couldn't have made her anymore perfect. She never cries and I am amazed by that so much. I love her so much. She is truly truly a blessing to us.
 Thank you God.

About 3 weeks ago we noticed that Jaina can stand up alone and pier over the top of her crib! I had Justin lower the crib as LOW as it would go. So now all she see's is bars in front of her. Poor baby, But we would rather her look through the bars rather then fall over the top!

As a worried parent, my child still has NO teeth! Or hair! Okay, I pretty much figured that she will not get any hair until she is around 3 years old. My mom said I was a bald headed baby until 3! Justin had lots of curly hair as a baby, so I guess she got that from me. But on the other hand we are taking it a little slow in the teeth department. She has excelled in everything but that. She is standing up and fixing to take off walking any day now but still no teeth. It seriously got me really nervous so 2 days ago I stuck my finger in her mouth just to see and yes! She finally has a bottom tooth coming in! YAY I'm so proud of her!

First time with a Sippy cup!

I know its kinda early to start her out on a sippy cup since she just turned eight months on the 21st but I just wanted to give it a try. I happened to have a sippy cup that my sister had given me at the house. I put about 2 oz of milk in the cup. The cup had two handles on it so I showed her how to put her hands on it to hold and she did it! I was so proud! The only thing about this cup is that the milk comes out way to fast and she was hanging the cup upside down and letting the milk poor onto the couch so I will need to try to find a better cup. I happen to catch a couple of fast shots of her holding her cup.
Enjoy!
Daddy trying to show her how to use her cup
She did it! She's so smart! :)

Garden Ridge, Texas

One of the greatest things about living in Central Texas is that you can get to Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and many other great places here in Texas in just about 2 to 3 hours. Yesterday Jaina, my uncle and I headed out to Garden Ridge, Texas to visit the original Garden Ridge store. Oh my goodness is it BIG! Anyone who has not been there before sooooo needs to go and they had tons of stuff in there for my house but my main goal was trying to see if I could find 2 night stands for our bedroom. Unfortunately, we did not find the ones I was looking for but they had tons of cute stuff that I'm going to have to go back and buy. After leaving Garden Ridge, we drove through downtown New Braunfels, and then headed to the outlet mall in San Marcus. We decided not to shop around there because it was 104 outside and we thought it would be way too hot for Jaina. So we got a bite to eat at Montana Mike's and then hit up the Paper Bear in Downtown San Marcus. If you've never been to the Paper Bear you've got to stop. It's one of those odds and ends store where you never know what you are going to find. I spotted a cute little bracelet and my uncle got Jaina a road trip souvenir, a rattle hammer that makes lots of noise. She loves it too and knows how to hit that hammer! Then back to Austin where we got stuck in traffic. Not a surprise! We decided to go to Garden Ridge in Austin just to see if they had the tables I was looking for and Bingo! They did! It made the whole trip worth it. Coming home we had to stop at McDonalds for a sundae which Jaina loved and a coke. Jaina road well this time until she spilled her milk all over the back seat. We left at 9:00 A.M. and by time we got home it was 7:00 P.M. We were dog tired and fell asleep fast!

Highlights

Okay, okay I'll admit I hate spending time getting my hair done. I use to love going to the salon and spending the whole day there but now I just don't have the time because I have way to much to do and not enough hours in a day. So Yesterday I finally made an appointment with my hair dresser. I had been debating for a while over to chop my hair, keep it long, highlight it, go dark. ect... I told her I guess lets just do highlights and chop it all off. And she did and it looks so good. She told me instead of foiling my hair and re-dying and blah blah blah which takes like 4 hours, she was going to use something called the Farouks System. It was so easy and I swear it only took her 15 min to pull my hair through a crap and put the dye on then 15 min in the dryer and then I was done. I couldnt believe it. The system some how works to where she puts one highlight color on but it dyes it light, medium and dark highlights all at one time. and then she gave me a new cute short hair cut and that was it. And not only that but it didnt cost me as much as it would in the foil. So a BIG thanks to Susie for making my day :)

Happy birthday Tim!

This weekend we had a house full of guests. Justin's dad Tim came down on Friday and Jaina's great-grandma and grandpa came down Saturday. They brought her a roller chair so she can learn to walk. It was so funny because she was walking backwards in it but doesn't know how to go forwards just yet! :) We also celebrated Tim's 53rd Birthday. So Happy Birthday to my father-in-law!Add Image

Random House pictures

So yesterday I started randomly taking pictures around the house and thought I would share them with you guys. Here is a side view of the front porch from the right side.
Here is my baby boy Phoenix. I've had him for almost 7 years now and he has one of the weirdest personalities I have ever seen, seriously. He will stare you down and roll his eyes at you if he doesn't want to be messed with.

Our house from the left front side.

Here is our back drive and carport, which I really want to close it in and make a garage.

Our chickens in the back yard have gotten sooooo big since Easter.

And we have Watermelons!!! I'm so excited!

Bath time with Jaina

Bath time with Jaina is always alot of fun for her. She LOVES taking a bath and we have never heard her cry during bath time. She loves to splash around with her hands and feet and play with all her bath toys.

She doesn't care too much for the soap on top of her head!

Trying to tell daddy she didn't want to get out.

I have a serious problem

I have come to conclusion that I hold on to stuff way to long. It can be the dumbest stuff from when I was like 5 years old and I still have a very hard time letting it go. Why? Why am I like this? Here lately Ive been thinking alot because after my grandmother died I really realized that all the stuff she had held on to all those years will eventually be thrown away by someone. What might mean something to her might not be important to us. I see this happen all the time at my work with the families I work with. And it is so sad. Then you ask yourself why even hold on to anything that you don't need or want? Last week we took all of our stuff out of storage and are putting everything in our attic. But before all the boxes go in the attic I wanted to go through them to see if its really worth hanging on to. So I opened a box marked High school stuff and I was flabbergasted by all the stuff I held on to and the amount of stuff I had in that box. I mean really crazy stuff too. So I threw away alot from that box but its still pretty full of useless crap. Maybe one of these days Ill throw it all away.

Summer Vacation has came and went

I can't believe our summer vacation is already over with and I'm back at work. It seriously amazes me because it seems like when your at work the time goes by so slow and when your on vacation the time just seems to fly by!

Jaina had such a good first vacation and enjoyed everything. We went to Port Aransas (our favorite Texas vacation spot), which we go to every year and meet Justin's grandparents down there.

Our hotel was right on the water which was great for short trips to the beach. Jaina LOVED the water, sand and beach. She splashed around and wanted to go further then we would let her. We were worried she wasn't going to like it but she did. The first day we only let her stay out in the sun for about 15 min and on the second day she stayed for about 45 minutes. We had to finally go in because she was trying to eat the sand.

We of course went over to the Big Fishermen to eat and did a little bit of shopping and made many trips to the ice cream shop.

Justin was a little disappointed because he only found three sand dollars this year. Last year we made out with over 20 of them. If you ever wonder how you can find sand dollars, here's the secret. Just go out in the water a couple of feet and stick your hand in the sand under water about an inch and there you go a real live sand dollar. We are avid shell collectors, we like to see what we can find. When we went to Mexico we came home with so many different kinds. I have always wanted to find a Star fish and the last night we were in Port A, we were walking along the beach and there was a perfect little Star Fish. Justin wouldn't let me take it home cause he said it would stink so I just snapped a picture of it.

New car!

New car, well I actually bought it in January but just now posting a picture of it. So back in January my old Saturn Vue SUV was giving me alot of trouble. I totally did NOT want to get it fixed. One day when I was driving to work I noticed my car making this really funny noise, so I blew it off and said whatever I'll just have Justin look at it when I get home. Well, when I went to drive home, my car wouldn't go in reverse, I was like what, what car can drive forward but not backwards. I took it into the shop and they said I would have to get another transmission. I was like No way! My car was a 2004 and had 130,000 mile on it and this was going to be my second transmission. No Way!! The first time it went out 2 years ago I had to put one in and it cost me $4000 and that was for a used transmission. I called the Saturn Corp. office and demanded that they help me fix my car and they said no. I was so mad! So I did a little research on my car and they just had a huge class action lawsuit against them on the 2003-2005 Saturn Vue. The attorney told me he was going to put my name on the list and when the lawsuit goes through they will refund my $4000 back.
Sweet huh, but I still had to get a new car which really bummed me out because I was only 3 car payments away from having the Saturn paid off. After weeks of fighting with the car dealership I had to give in and buy a new car. I ended up getting a 2008 White Chevy Trail Blazer which I love so much. I got a sweet deal on it too. Just a month before in December 2008 the car was running for $28,000.00 and a month later in January 2009 I bought it for $18,000. I was pretty dang proud of that deal and if you buy a car in 2009 then on your tax return in 2010 its an automatic $3,000 back in your pocket!

Our House

Yesterday when I was checking the mail I snapped a quick picture of the front of our house. Our House is in the country, its made of white and tan stone, it has an awesome tin roof and a Texas stain glass door.We live on half an acre with lots of trees. We have neighbors on all sides of us but the left, its woods. We have a horseshoe drive in front and a car port in the back. We don't live in a neighborhood but we do live on one single street that curves around. When I get some time I'll give you a tour of the inside of our house.
