Jewell & Jolee’s End of the Year Awards

Even though Jewell did not have an official pre-k graduation she still received a certificate of achievement. Look how cute she looks on stage!!
There was not an awards show at her school for the parents as they lock down the school during school hours but I did receive this photo and loved it!
Way to go Jewell!

Jolee also had an awards ceremony in her classroom. Justin and I were both working so Allie stepped in for us and went to take some pictures for us.

She received several awards

She received the reach for the stars award To receive this award, a student has to Set high goals for themselves and work Tirelessly to achieve them. I could say that she definitely works very hard on everything that she does.
She also received the tough cookie award to receive this award a student has to The self-confident, Strong willed And resilient.
After her awards, Allie got to eat one last lunch with her at the school.
Yum lunch room pizza, corn, fruit cocktail and milk!
Looks like I missed out! Lol

She came home with a packet of awards And couldn’t wait to show us. Way to go Jolee!
She also Received and award of excellence
She also earned an academic UIL participant award when she participated in her UIL contest
We are so proud of you!

First and Last Band Banquet

Jaina ended the year with a band banquet. The band hosted there end of the year banquet at Tenroc Ranch. She got to invite one parent so Justin went with her since I had to work that day. It was a semi formal and they got to wear a masquerade mask.

She said they served Italian food and had a slide show featuring all the fun activities and events they did throughout the year. They gave out a couple awards and then came home.
While they were at the banquet Jolee and Jewell stayed home with me. Jolee played on her iPad while Jewell and I played dinosaurs. Jewell set up all her Dino’s on her table and had to name all of them for me. Some of the names I don’t even know how to pronounce but she sure does!
She sure does love her Dino’s :)

Highlights from Pre-K

Jewell had such a great year at MDO. I know I've said it before, but it truly was the best decision for her. I think it really prepared her for what school will be like every day. It was a last-minute decision we made, and the school only had one spot open so it just all fell right into place. Then she was placed in a class with a friend of mine being her teacher and loving on her all year long just made it an even better decision. We couldn't have been happier with the way things turned out.
I didn't really share a lot from her school year because I was not allowed to post any pictures they sent. I am thankful for her teacher's taking pictures of her and all the fun activities they did this year. So, let's recap and the fun from the entire year of school
This was her very first day of school. She looks so little! More like a baby here then a toddler. She was not nervous; she was very excited to go to school
They had floor time in the mornings where they learned the pledge, calendar, months of the year, days of the week, all 4 seasons, numbers and letters. She is now a pro and can tell me all those things. She's got a great memory!
They also had chapel time and learned about Jesus. They had nap time, lunch time, tumble time, recess and did so much more. Their days were packed with so much learning.
She made an "All about Me" poster and took it to school. She got to tell her friends at school all about her family and all the pets we have at home.
Each week she brought home a letter bag. They learned a letter for each week they were in school and whatever letter they were learning for the week she got to bring something from home that started with that letter for show and tale. I remember Jaina doing this when she attended MDO.
Each week had a theme. This week was dinosaur week. Her favorite week of all!
She worked on a lot of letter pages, number pages, arts and crafts.
She met 10 new friends, and she had a "crush" on Tate, LOL.
(But she said they broke things off at the end of the year) HAHA!
They did experiments at school and worked on projects
She got to be the line leader but most of the time was the caboose because well you know V is always last in line
The firemen came with Sparky and the fire truck! She really enjoyed that
Moving right along into fall she was getting use to her routine of going to school and loving it.
Circus theme week!
The theme for the week was Autumn and each week they learned a new Bible verse, this week was "Be strong and courageous" Joshua 1:9
She got to wear her mermaid costume to school, and they got to go trick or treating around the school to the different classrooms. They also got to paint pumpkins and had a pizza party.
For Thanksgiving they had a "turkey lunch" with Chick Fil A for lunch as their turkey.
During Christmas they had several themes such as: Christmas Cookies, Nativity, and Pancake and Pajama Day. They got to wear their pj's to school and ate pancakes. They also celebrated Jesus' birthday and had Buddy the Elf stop by.
In January they celebrated Space week and Nursery Rhyme week and learned the verse " I am the way and the truth and the life" John: 14:6
And we even skipped a day of school for bad cold and rainy weather.
In February she had a Valentine exchange party where she got to take all the kids in her class a valentine and learned about God's love.
Moving into spring they had rodeo week! She got to dress western, she learned calf roping, bull riding, horse races and got to bring a stuffed animal for the livestock show.
Then they had Dr. Seuss week. Who doesn't love Dr. Suess!
She had an Easter party at school with an Easter egg hunt. They also celebrated with pizza and the Easter bunny even paid a visit.
She got to take school pictures and spent the rest of the weeks learning and having fun. They celebrated transportation week, family week and camping week. She learned how to exercise and worked on her Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts.
They celebrated transportation week, family week, when I grow up week, and her favorite day of all splash day. They also celebrated with ice cream and invited the parents to have ice cream with their child, so Justin went up to the school and had some ice cream with Jewell :)
And her last day of school was not a sad day but a happy day! Yes, bittersweet but she was ready to be done with school for a while. I was a little bummed they did not have a pre-k graduation like Jaina had but that's okay. She went to school and had one last day of fun with her friends. She even brought cookies for all of her friends to help celebrate her upcoming birthday. She even got her very own birthday girl button. She said all her friends sang Happy Birthday to her.
And her last official picture taken at school as a pre-k student :)
It was such a great year!

Jaina’s Last Day of Freshman Year

Jaina is officially done with her first year of High School. I can't believe how fast it went. She did a little growing up too. She's becoming quite the teenager especially with her new glasses.
I would have to say this year was the year Jaina learned what the true meaning of persevere is. This child showed me, Justin and everyone else that she can put up a good fight, she fights for what she wants and isn't going to let anyone bully her or tell her she can't. As a freshman Jaina went through a lot more than what a 15-year-old should have gone through. The year was full of drama and one to remember for sure.  We are proud of the young lady she is becoming. We are leaving freshman year behind and moving on to sophomore year. I know the next few years will be great for her but for now let summertime begin!
Are we twinning? LOL
When she wears her hair curly it reminds me of when I use to wear mine curly in high school too except, I had to pay for my curls at the salon, lol.

Jolee’s Last Day of Elementary School

Jolee is officially done with elementary school!
She had her last day of 5th grade on Wednesday.
Look how much she has grown up!
I'm not going to lie I am so excited for her to be moving on to a new school and starting Jr. High. It seems like Jolee has been in elementary school forever especially holding her back and making her go an extra year. I can't wait to see how she does in Jr. High.
This year was a little trying. As you know from my post about her being in the 504 plan, this year was not her best year. Throughout her time in elementary she had some good teachers, but she also had a lot of not so good teachers and well yall know I wasn't too thrilled with her team of teachers she had this year, so we are moving on and leaving elementary school in the past.
She grew up not only with her height and looks but she matured a lot in her personality and made a few "best friends".
She was sad on the last day of school. When she got off the bus she had been crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she was sad that she wasn't going to get to see her teachers anymore. I told her she would still see them around town.
She is ready to go to Jr. High. It's going to be different for her and may be a little scary at first but she will get the hang of it in no time. So, here's to enjoying summer and starting fresh in the fall!
