State UIL

We had one last school event we had to go to on Monday. Jaina and I had to wake up at 5:00am and report to Kyle High School for her State UIL Twirling Competition. Although it was Memorial Day we made it through Austin to Kyle in no time. We didn't know what to expect when we got there. Regional UIL is waaaaay different then State. Regional is very calm, you report at your time, you go in a little room with 1 judge, do your routine, get your score and leave.
When we arrived at Kyle High School there were kids everywhere. Band kids, choir kids and twirling kids from all over the state. It was mass chaos which was making Jaina really nervous.
The gym was kinda set up like her competitions we go to for USTA. There were two tables with two judges, and the stands had parents all in it. So thankfully she is used to this kind of layout. She got changed and then only had about 15 minutes to practice. Since her sponsor was not there and the band directors were busy running around, I had to do the music for her so even I was nervous for her.
Haha this picture cracks me up because she did not want to take a picture. She was like noooooo Mom!
So, I made her take a picture after we were done.
At 9:36 am they called her up; I nervously got her music started (ABC by the Jackson 5) and she did her routine. She did a great routine. The judges had a smile on their faces the whole time. After she was done, she said OMG I probably got a 4 or 5. I said no way, you did great you probably scored a 2 or 3.
She got changed and before we left Mr. V texted and said she made a 2 and got a silver medal! Yay! Jaina was excited and very happy with her score.
At state even though it's a competition, you're not competing against other schools you're just competing against yourself and challenging yourself to do the best that you can do. You get a ratings score of a 1-5, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst. So, she was very happy with her 2!
Way to go girl now we can relax this summer now that we are officially done with all school activities!
We headed back home and spent the rest of our Memorial Day relaxing, sleeping, being lazy, swimming in the pool and eating hotdogs.
